Related Topics

The related topics to the crucible are that of the Salem Witch Trials and McCarthyism. Each aspect of these two topics have greatly influenced the play and are surrounded by the time period of the play.

The salem witch trials occurred during the late 1600s when 19 men and women were accused of practicing witchcraft and working for the Devil. SOme were hanged for their accusations and not given another chance. Hundreds of others faced accusations but were able to get out of being killed for it. Months of accusations continued until the hysteria swept right back through Puritan Massachusetts.

McCarthyism also flourished through this time when people started accusing others of wrongdoings. Joseph McCarthy was the one to begin this hysteria when he began a speech to the people and convinced them that certain people were doing wrong things and were responsible for negative aspects of the world.

My Opinions on Current Events

In this column, I'll write some of my opinions on current events. I'll date my entries and update this page frequently, whenever I feel moved to write.

I can talk about politics, sports, technology, whatever is important to me -- because of course, more people should share *my* opinion. ;-)

Do you agree or disagree with my beliefs and opinions? I'd love to hear from you. Check out my "Contact Me" page to send me e-mail.
